In celebration of the 60 Years of Philippines-Japan Friendship and the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month this July, the Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with The Japan Foundation, Manila is inviting Filipino amateur solo singers age 18 years old and above to join the 2016 J-pop Anime Singing Contest.
Santa Ana, CA – (May 19, 2016) Anime Expo, produced by The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA), will present the U.S.’s first Anisong World Matsuri event on July 2 and 3. Created by six leading Japanese entertainment companies including Lantis Co., Ltd., Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., AMUSE Inc., BANDAI VISUAL CO. LTD., BANDAI NAMCO Live Creative Inc., and Anime Consortium Japan Inc., the music and entertainment event adds yet another layer to North America’s largest anime event.
The last weekend of the love month has witnessed the Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM) at the forefront of celebrating the Japanese language (Nihongo) learning and Japanese arts and culture through the Nihongo Fiesta 2016 held on February 27 at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall and Spinning Manila: J-Pop Live! staged on February 28 at the Whitespace Manila.
February 23, 2016, Singapore – Fans of Japanese manga, anime, games and cosplay will have more to look forward to in July this year. Cosplay Con Quest is an exciting, optional side quest that convention-goers can participate in. The activity is free and guarantees a prize at the end of the quest, but what the prize is will remain a mystery until the con-goer hands in their Quest Card.
Mark your calendars this February as the Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM) celebrates the colorful culture and arts of Japan with the Nihongo Fiesta 2016. The annual Nihongo Fiesta showcases the Japanese language, arts and culture through events like the speech contest, quiz bee, film screening and J-Pop concert.
The Cosplay Karaoke is a fun variation of the karaoke contest where contestants must dress up in costume while singing to their favorite music while the song’s lyrics are displayed onscreen. There will be two versions of this contest for each day. The first day will consist mostly of anime and J-pop music while the second day will consist mostly of popular music. One winner will be declared for each day.
Guess what? Its back! Cosplay.ph’s Cosplay Costume of the Year is now open for nominations, to honor not just the costume, but the cosplayer as well!
The Cosplay OTP (Onstage Tag Pairing) Contest is an open competition with the goal of creating a fun atmosphere where cosplayers can perform on-stage with other cosplayers using a mechanic called a “cosplay tag.” With an emphasis on fun and in order to create a welcoming atmosphere for newer cosplayers, there will be multiple prizes awarded including the best “cosplay tag” team, best cosplay mash-up/genderbend, etc. Also, the Best Male and Best Female overall awards will be able to secure guaranteed slots in the Cosplay Mania Cup 2016.
