It was overwhelming because we sought to achieve this without a huge corporate budget and in the midst of economic turmoil. In fact, in a year when others opted to scale back and downsize, we resolved to stay our course and delivered on the promise of a bigger and better Cosplay Mania despite the odds. We did this because, despite having less, we knew Filipino Cosplayers deserved more.

Cosplay Mania 2009 was an improbable journey realized only through the hard work and dedication of over a hundred staff, including organizers and volunteers. It would have been nothing if not for the gracious sponsors and exhibitors who, despite daunting economic times, financed and supported our efforts. It would have floundered if not for the nearly 9,000 visitors who graced the event.

To everyone who believed in Cosplay Mania 2009 - from the sponsors and exhibitors, to the Cosplayers and fans - it is to you that we owe our success. The two jampacked Megatrade Halls was a testament to your support and we thank you for it.

To my fellow organizers as well as the amazing staff and volunteers who set aside their differences, sacrificed and pooled your efforts to put this event together, Cosplay Mania 2009 was your triumph.  Although we may see ourselves as ordinary, together we achieved something so extraordinary, it seems almost unthinkable.

The journey, however, is far from over. There are still many things we can improve and many obstacles we have yet to surmount. As Cosplay in the Philippines turns ten next year, we are challenged to build something truly exceptional that will commemorate this milestone. We hope that, as we face these new challenges, we can continue to count on your courage, your dedication and your overwhelming support: the fire with which every single Cosplay Mania is forged.

The Society of Young Voice Artists of the Philippines Voice Acting Panel – “Hey, it’s that voice!” Ever wondered who voices your favourite foreign anime and telenovelas into the local language? And why do some of them sound familiar? CreatiVoices Productions and The Society of Young Voice Artists of the Philippines share their experiences and stories in this fun and light panel and tells you how you too can be one of them!

Voice panelists include:

• DANNY MANDIA “The Father of Modern Dubbing”- Since 1991, Mr. Mandia has been working as a dubbing director and translator for the biggest Broadcasting Network in the country, ABS-CBN and since 2005, for Hero TV Channel. Some of the most memorable animated series he handled were Peter Pan, Dog of Flanders, Remi, Julio at Julia, Snowhite, RayEarth, BTX, Little Women 1 and 2, Zenki, Heidi, Digimon 1 and 2, Hana Yori Dango, Kim Possible, Voltes V celebrity edition, Akazukin Cha-cha. He also had a hand in other TV Series such as Bananas in Pajamas, Meteor Garden, Love Scar (Fantasy Fever), ABCDEF-4, Girls Marching and Boys Over Flowers On among others. VOICEWORX Teacher!
• LUCY QUINTO – The Mother of Dubbing Industry, She has done hundreds of dubbing works for GMA 7 and TV 5.
• ALEXX AGCAOILI - Also Known as “The Supremo .” Alexx Agcaoili is a Filipino Voice Actor and ADR Director. Most of his VA and Directing work are Anime but he has also done work on some TeleNovelas which airs on certain TV stations in the Philippines, namely ABS-CBN and GMA. The very talented voice actor and Director for Filipino anime productions like, Fruits Basket, Rave Master, Mobile Suit Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Beast Machines, Supergals, Babel 1 and 2, Green Rose, and many more. Taking the role of Dr. Smith in the original Filipino Voltes V and Sanosuke Kagara in Samurai X (Rorouni Kenshin). His contribution to the workshop will be in direct supervision of the recording process and applications of voice acting. VOICEWORX Teacher.

Cosplay Mania is coming this September 13, and one of their featured activities is the CBC or Costume Building Contest.  Last year we had contestants build costumes with a plan and fight each other to see who would be the last one standing.  This year it is different.

• There will be no required plans.  You can make up your own design on the spot!
• Instead of rubber sheets, STYROFOAM is now the main material.
• Instead of fighting each other, you will instead try to survive an OBSTACLE COURSE!
• The more materials you creatively use up, the more impressed the judges will be.  The less leftover materials the better!
• Even leaving a mess will deduct scores, that's why each group will be provided their own broom, dust pan and a box to put in the trash.  Cleanliness is the best policy!

These are just the few new things for CBC.  But all in all we made this as new as we can give you.
