Cosplay Tournament of Champions III invades the City of Pines

 

 

The biggest cosplay tournament returns with a bang at the City of Pines!

The Cosplay Tournament of Champions 3: Third Impact! will hit SM City Baguio this Saturday, June 30, 2012!

Catch and cheer for your favorite local cosplayers as they dress up, compete, and wow you for the chance to compete in September’s Cosplay Mania and represent the country in the Asian Regional Cosplay Championships in Singapore in November! Or better yet, grab a partner and cosplay your way to victory! Who knows? This next champion pair could be you!

If you don’t have a partner, don’t despair! Join the Cyberzone Cosplay Grand Prix happening on the same day! Come in your favorite video game character costume and win great prizes!

2012 Eiga Sai opens on July 5

Enjoy free screenings of much-awaited contemporary Japanese films in July and August at the 2012 Eiga Sai. Presented by theJapan Foundation, Manila, in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, UP Film Institute, Film Development Council of the Philippines, ClickTheCity.com and NET 25 TV. An invitational screening of the film ‘Villain’ on July 5 at Shang Cineplex Cinema 2, EDSA, Mandaluyong City is the kick-off event for the festivity.

Villain is a gritty social critique drama directed by Lee Sang-il, director of the multi-award film—Hula Girls. Eri Fukatsu who won the Best Actress Award at the Montreal World Film Festival 2010 and Japan Academy Prize 2011 for her role (Mitsuyo), takes on challenging and heated love scenes, playing a woman on the run with a murderer. Satoshi Tsumabuki (Yuichi) runs away after killing a woman (Yoshino) he met on a dating website. While the families of the victim and the assailant are left in agony, Mitsuyo becomes increasingly entangled in her relationship with Yuichi. The film was based on the novel “Akunin” by Shuichi Yoshida published in April 2007.

The film has also enjoyed successful runs at various international film festivals and emerged as one of the most acclaimed films from Japan in 2010, earning 15 nominations from the Japan Academy Awards, including those for Best Picture, Director and a variety of acting affirmations.

Completing this year’s roster of exciting films to be featured are thePEAK –The Rescuers,Railways,Happy Flight; Tomorrow’s Joe, In His Chart; Colorful, Abacus And Sword, Permanent Nobara, and Ninja Kids.

All films will be shown in 35mm format with English subtitles. Cyberzone Cosplay Grand Prix

Cosplay Tournament of Champions 3rd Strike makes history once again as it hosts Cyberzone Cosplay Grand Prix! The video game-themed Solo Competition will be held during the TORCH 3 preliminary legs with P6,000 worth of prizes at stake! Cosplay Challenge 3 Guidelines

  1. Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay is open to all event attendees.
  1. Cosplay Challenge 3 will be an OPEN CATEGORY event where participants could cosplay any character that they want from any genre whether it’s from an anime, manga, games, comics, movies, western animation, etc. Pls. keep in mind that Original Characters are not qualified.
  1. The INDIVIDUAL COSPLAY will be held on June 23, 2012.
  1. Cosplay Challenge 3 shall be accepting a maximum of 150 participants.
  1. The individual cosplay registration will be have an online pre-registration and an on-site/at-con registration only which will be on June 23, 2012.
  1. Pre-registrants are required to confirm their pre-registration during the on-site registration period. Pre-registering does not guarantee a slot in the official cosplay list, but deloads you of the burden on writing at the event. For pre-registration, click here: http://goo.gl/q1YnZ
  1. Pre-registrants who fail to confirm their registration from 10am-1pm (tentative) on June 23, 2012, the next available slot(s) will be given to the on-site registrants.
  1. Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.
  1. Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind that Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.
  1. Costumes that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantly clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but are not encouraged. The Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay cosplay team has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.
  1. All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.
  1. The Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay cosplay team, Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay organizers and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.
  1. Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay cosplay judges’ decisions are final and can’t be appealed.
  1. Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay organizers reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.
  1. Registration and participation to the cosplay event constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
  1. Cosplay Challenge 3 Cosplay organizers and its staff and their relatives up to the 2nd degree of affinity or consanguinity are disqualified from participating in the cosplay event.

Picture Reference Submission


 

  1. All cosplay registrants has the option  to submit a printed colored full-body picture of the character that they will be cosplaying.
  1. Accuracy points will be deducted to the cosplay registrants who failed to submit a picture reference.
  1. All pictures must not go below 3×4 inches (wallet size) and must not go beyond 8.5×11 inches (short bond paper size).

Judging Criteria


Craftsmanship = 40%
Accuracy = 30%
Stage Performance = 25%
Audience Impact = 5%

  • 1st Place = Php5000 worth of Cash and Gift Certificates
  • 2nd Place = Php3000 worth of Cash and Gift Certificates
  • 3rd Place = Php2000 worth of Cash and Gift Certificates
